The history of the

Alte Bürgermeisterei

The Ediger Büergermeisterei was built around 1840. It is the birthplace of the first President of the Weimar National Assembly, Dr. Eduard Heinrich Rudolph David (* June 11, 1863 in Ediger, † December 24, 1930 in Berlin).

His father Johann Heinrich David was a Prussian tax collector, born in Trier, his mother Wilhelmine Elisabeth Werner was a farmer´s daughter from Kastellaun in the Hunsrück.

The efforts of Dr. Eduard Davids (SPD) is responsible for the fact that the traditional colors of the German flag - black, red and gold - were chosen as the national flag in Weimar in 1919 as a symbol of a united, just and free Germany. After the dark years under the swastika, the founding fathers of the Basic Law stipulated again in Article 22 on May 23, 1949: "The federal flag is black, red and gold."

At the beginning of the 20th century, the house was used as a community center and rebuilt. Unfortunately, it was also available to the various party organizations during the National Socialist era. After the end of the Third Reich, it was used again until 2001 as a community center and practice room for the Ediger brass band association.

2001 The Feiden family acquires the historic building and in the same year expands it into the romantic hotel "Alte Bürgermeisterei".

2015 After the death of her husband, Claudia Feiden sells the "Alte Bürgermeisterei" to the artist couple Bernice Christoph and Hermann Loos, who run a gallery in Valwig.

2021 It is a pleasure for the Bonn real estate team to be able to make a special offer to its business partners and all friends of the Moselle:

We will be hosts in the historic "Alte Bürgermeisterei" from 1840 in Ediger-Eller.

Since the building was the birthplace of Dr. Eduard David, the first President of the Weimar National Assembly, has historical significance, we want to live up to this claim: As a real estate company based in Bonn, we have designed the "Alte Bürgermeisterei" with pictures from the time of the Bonn Republic (1949-1990).
